暗戀桃花源

春天的緣故，DAVIS 到處都是盛開的植物。走在路上，一陣風來，雪白花瓣紛紛落下的情景，讓我不禁想到桃花源記，以及我很喜歡的表演工作坊的作品「暗戀桃花源」

晉太元中，武陵人，捕魚為業，緣溪行，忘路之遠近；忽逢桃花林，夾岸數百步，中無雜樹，芳草鮮美，落英繽紛；漁人甚異之。復前行，欲窮其林。林盡水源，便得一山。山有小口，彷彿若有光，便舍船，從口入。

(During the period of 晉dynasty, there was a guy from 武陵, who was a fisherman. One day he went up through the river and forgot how far he went. Suddenly he saw peach forest lasted several hundred meters long alone the riverside. There was no other kind of trees in the forest. The grass was green, and the ground was covered by flower petals. The fisherman felt surprised. Then he kept moving forward, hoping to finish the forest. At the end of the forest, there was a mountain and a cave, and he saw some lights coming out from the cave. Thus, he left the ship, and entered the cave)
初極狹，纔通人；復行數十步，豁然開朗。土地平曠，屋舍儼然。有良田、美池、桑、竹之屬，阡陌交通，雞犬相聞。其中往來種作，男女衣著，悉如外人；黃髮 垂髫，並佁然自樂。見漁人，乃大驚，問所從來；具答之。便要還家，設酒、殺雞、作食。村中聞有此人，咸來問訊。自云：「先世避秦時亂，率妻子邑人來此絕 境，不復出焉；遂與外人間隔。」問「今是何世？」乃不知有漢，無論魏、晉！此人一一為具言所聞，皆歎惋。餘人各復延至其家，皆出酒食。停數日，辭去。此中 人語云：「不足為外人道也。」

At the beginning the cave was narrow that only one man can pass through it, but after ten to twenty steps, it suddenly got wider. There was a plain over the other side of the cave. There were houses, fields, ponds, mulberry and bamboo. Paths and lanes crossed inside the village, and he could hear sounds of chicken and dogs around. The way people dress didn’t looked like modern people. Everyone was happy no matter he/she is old or young. When people saw the fisherman, they all felt surprised and asked him where he came from, and the fisherman answered their questions. Then people invited the fisherman to their house, fixed him meals with wine and chicken. Other people in the village heard about the fisherman and they all came to look at him. Villagers said that they ancestors brought their families here to hide from war in Chin dynasty, and since then they stayed at the place forever and never had chance to contact with other people. They asked “what year is now?” They never heard of Han dynasty, not to mention 魏 and 晉 dynasty. The fisherman told them about what happened in outside world, everyone’s regret that they never knew it. Other people asked the fisherman to their place and fixed him meals. After staying for several days, the fisherman wanted to leave. Villagers said ” please don’t tell anyone about the place”.

既出，得其船，便扶向路，處處誌之。及郡下，詣太守，說如此。太守即遣人隨其往，尋向所誌，遂迷不復得路。南陽劉子驥，高尚士也，聞之，欣然規往，未果，尋病終。後遂無問津者。

After leaving the cave, the fisherman got his boat and heading toward home. He made marks everywhere. After he arrived at the county, he went see the county officer and told him about what happened. The county officer immediately sent someone to go with the fisherman, tried to recover the marks and direction. However they got lost and could never find the place. There was a noble named 劉子驥 (K: the guy that crazy woman was looking for) in 南陽, when he heard about the story, he was very excited and had decided to find the place. However he never made it and finally he was sick and died. After that, no one ever tried to find the place again.
